This Saturday, August 9th at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota UFC 87 will be bring you the fight card of the summer!
Orginally, Heavyweights Brock Lesnar ( 1-1) and Heath Herring (29-13-1) were headlining the card, but at the last minute a Welterweight Title fight stole the show. Georges St. Pierre (16-2) will be defending his newly found title against the #1 contender Jon Fitch (21-2). It is a real shame because I think Heath Herring really needed to headline for his confidense, he hasn't been abel to put together a good win streak since 2004 and ever since then its been win/loss win/loss ect. and his last fight was a win over an overrated Cheick Congo so if history holds true the odds should be against him. Heres the fight card with odds and my picks:
Welterweight Title Fight:
Georges "Rush" St. Pierre (16-2) -360 (risk $360 to win $100)
Jon Fitch (21-2) +280 (risk $100 to win $280)
*Frankie "Knuckles" Bloise's Pick: UPSET OF THE NIGHT!!! Frankie says; "Jon Fitch is too strong for the French Canadian who most recently has been fighting smaller opponents, Fitch has a full arsenal of weapons and is a very well rounded fighter who doesn't mind a brawl on his feet, but is completely comfortable on the ground as well. His sheer toughness will beat St. Pierre, the only chance the defending champ has is to take it to the ground and do everything possible to stay on top." This is definantly a great opportunity to profit from the dog as the favorites have been covering too often lately. Take Fitch and then buy a round at the bar with the winnings.
Heavyweights:
Brock Lesnar (1-1) -270 (risk $270 to win $100)
Heath "The Texas Crazy Horse" (29-13-1) +210 (risk $100 to win $210)
*Frankie "Knuckles" Bloise Pick: Frankie is betting with the bookies on this one, "Lesnar is waay too strong and his wrestling is world class. Herring won't be able to handle it! Granted, Herring does alot of experience, but his only chance is to catch Lesnar in a submission similiar to what happened against Frank Mir where Lesner got caught in a knee/ankle bar and had to tap. Seeing as Herrings Jui Jistsu skills are not half that of Frank Mir's I don't see how its possible to pull that off." You should lay off this fight, the numbers are too high, I thought that Herring's experience would balance out the size of Lesnar, but its not worth it. I would put $10 fun bucks down on it with the return of at least 2 more rounds at the bar, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Lightweights
Kenny "KenFlo" Florian (9-3) -155 (risk $155 to win $100)
Roger "El Matador" Huerta (22-1-1) +125 (risk $100 to win $125)
My Pick: Huerta is gonna hurt this guy!!! Kenny Florian may have made a name for himself via the Ultimate Fighter competition, but he is waaay over hyped, yeah he has 4 wins in a row, 3 of which were by submission, but his past opponents were all 2nd or 3rd tier fighters not mention the guy is 32 now and is fighting under his normal weight class, normally this guy would walk around at 170 so he's unbalanced, he couldn't cut it in the Welterweight division so he had to drop weight which means he's not comfortable or at optimal ability to use his natural body frame. Huerta on the other hand is young dumb and full of cum, BUT!!! he is on a 13 fight win streak and is more effective with his striking than KenFlo and at his normal weight is more agile on the ground. I really don't understand the thinking on the part of the bookmakers with these odds but thats all the more opportunity for the bettors to have a nice come up. Huerta is the young stud, he has more experice than Florian and whether it goes to the ground or on their feet Huerta is the better fighter. Out of all the fights on the card this is the one you want to put big money on. TAKE HUERTA!!! Its the closest thing to a sure bet that you can hope for in UFC.
Lightweights
Manny "The Anvil" Gamburyean (9-3) -340 (risk $340 to win $100)
Rob "The Saint" Emerson (9-6-1) +260 (risk $100 to win $260)
My Pick: Unfortunately this is one of those fights where the odds makers are right on, I saw the fight where Manny broke his fore arm because he didn't tap out. This guy is as tough as nails and nobody the likes of Rob Emerson is going to push him around. This guy Emerson has never fought anyone that you would have heard of and basically this fight was scheduled so that Manny could make his comeback after that seveer injury. It's not worth betting on, but at least after reading this you can make bets with your friends that don't know about the line and hopefully make a few fun bucks. This is the lock of the night! Manny Gamburyean will end this fool in the first round, I know hes hungry.
Middleweights
Jason "The Athlete" McDonald (21-9) +205 (risk $100 to win $205)
Demian Maia (8-0) -265 (risk $265 to win $100)
Welterweights
Luke "The Silent Assasin" Cummo (9-6) -150 (risk $150 to win $100)
Tamdon "The Barn Cat" McCrory (10-1) +120 (risk $100 to win $120)
Heavyweights
Cheick Kongo (21-5-1) -575 (risk $575 to win $100)
Dan Evenson (10-2) +400 (risk $100 to win $400)
My Pick: Whenever you can get more that 3 to 1 on a UFC bet you have to take it. Cheick Kongo will probably win but that $10 to win $40 is just toooooooooo sweet to pass up, you have to lay down some fun money here, the return is just too sweet.
Welterweights
Chris "The Professor" Wilson (12-5-1) -335 (risk $335 to win $100)
Steve "Hollywood" Bruno (12-3) +235 (risk $100 to win $235)

This is Frankie Knuckles, hate to burst your bubble but Florian is going to demolish Huerta. The little Mexican jumping bean isn't going to know what hit him and I don't see this fight lasting very long. Manville the Anville is going to be way too powerful for Emerson, who hasn't impressed me in a single one of his fights. Luke Cummo is going to show that McCrory's nickname should be changed to "The Pussy Cat". McCrory doesn't even belong in the UFC. Hopefully this will be the last time we'll have to see this bum in the octagon.
